This month we’re getting to know one of our newest recruits. Matt joined the team in Australia last year and has been loving getting to grips with his new role between studying for his degree and gaming with his friends. Find out more about Matt in his interview below.
When and why did you decide to join Commerce Decisions?
I joined Commerce Decisions in September 2021 because I appreciate the approach the company takes in assisting their clients with procurement problems in the APAC region. Coming from a background in only assisting Government departments in Canberra, Commerce Decisions gave me the opportunity to branch out and deliver real value to clients across the country.
What are your main responsibilities?
As the Technical Analyst for the APAC Region, my focus revolves around configuring the AWARD® evaluation tool and providing tender evaluation support to clients. It is important for me to provide the best support I can in order to ensure that my clients have the best possible experience.
What’s one thing you’re learning now, and why is it important?
Since starting at Commerce Decisions I have learnt a lot about the procurement process having not had much experience of it prior to joining the team. This is helping me to develop in my role and understand the key elements to focus on.
Outside of work, I am currently studying towards a Bachelor of Engineering (Renewable Energy) and Commerce at the Australian National University. This is a key focus for my career and finishing that degree will allow me to bring new ideas into the company and open up opportunities for me in the future.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I love gaming with my mates, on PC and PlayStation 5 (yes, I got one!). I am a huge Anime and Korean Drama fan, bingeing on Netflix every night! I am a board and card games enthusiast (big fan of Magic: The Gathering!). My family is huge on tennis, so I love to get out and hit the courts now and then as well watching the major tournaments.
What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
Exercise, Exercise….and Exercise! I have been trying to build a habit of keeping fit, which means healthier diet and going on more runs!
What’s an accomplishment that you’re proud of?
Every project that I have delivered to the client has been a huge accomplishment for me. Despite being a relatively new starter at the company, I have been highly commended on my ability to deliver outstanding AWARD® evaluation training to clients. I have never undertaken such a huge responsibility prior to this and I’m grateful to my team for supporting me.
