Infrastructure & Net Zero – Lifecycle Planning and Procurement

Government buying power can radically shift infrastructure delivery to become more efficient and deliver wider environmental, social and economic goals. This report, produced by The infrastructure Lab, discusses some of the key themes raised at the Canada-UK virtual roundtable on ‘Moving from Cost to Value and Net Zero’.

The roundtable which took place on 16 February 2021, included public and private sector leaders from Canada and the UK. Representing Commerce Decisions at this event was Mike Ross, Principal Consultant – International Services Lead. Mike focused on the tender evaluation process and shared the new approaches being adopted in the UK, specifically in relation to value for money and the inclusion of social value. He also provided insight on the creation of a more three-dimensional approach to tender evaluation, which brings both opportunity and complexity. A detailed overview of the topics discussed is available here.

The report produced by the Infrastructure Lab is now available to download. This includes a section on ‘Procurement Approaches’, which references the approaches being taken by Infrastructure Ontario and National Defence Canada, with support from Commerce Decisions.
